Oh wow, I remember seeing a trailer for this ages ago. And while I liked what I saw, I didn't pay it much mind. I thought it was just a fan trailer.
I'm both shocked and delighted that its real :D This is something I gotta track down :P

I loved this movie so much.
I'm a big fan of mixing comedy and drama, when it's done well, and it was here. I saw it in a full movie theater, and the audience was laughing at one moment and then silent when the serious points hit.
Sure, it's similar to the games, but isn't that the point of adaptation?
I thought it did that well, making the familiar things fit in the context of a movie and different kind of story-telling.
I'm sick and tired of video-game movies that aren't actual adaptations, but just take random things from the games and mash them together.
Instead of giving a different take on the source material.
I think that has a lot to do with how video-games are still considered to be an inferior story-telling medium, and that all the fans of the games want are some similar things and explosions.
I agree, though, that if the style is not your cup of tea, you're not going to like it. Your enjoyement depends on whether you can get on board with it, and accept that this world exists.

This movie looked very intriguing when I saw the trailer. I admit, I never would've suspected that they used holograms in the courtroom during the court scenes in the game. They just... seemed like normal court scenes, like in A Few Good Men. Even if the court is laid out differently than how courts usually look like to people.
(Must be how they look like in Japan, or something)
Well, I'm glad that this movie is actually worth watching, considering that Ace Attorney is one of the few game series' that I've played every entry of (of the games that have actually been released in English), and am a fan of. I've never really been a fan of or even played that much of Mega Man, Street Fighter OR Resident Evil.
But thank god, of all the franchises that Capcom have sold the rights to to make a shoddy adaptation, at least this is one of the few (or maybe even only) adaptations that have worked.
My brother Forte downloaded this movie in 1080p a couple of weeks ago, so after watching this review, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

This looks cheesy, over the top and chock full of ~DEEP SOULFUL GAZING INTO EACH OTHERS EYES~ between Phoenix and Edgeworth.
In other words it's everything I could ever ask for in a Phoenix Wright movie and I adore it already. It does look like Mia doesn't have QUITE the impressive set that she does in canon, but eh- that's stuff I can live with.

Fans: Overruled! Did I say you can speak? Sit your ass down!
I've gotta watch it. The cosplayishness only bothers me a teensy little bit, but that's what happens when you try to make ordinary people look like anime characters.

Being a cosplayer, I like the cosplay look, but I do understand that American audiences like things to look "realistic." That's why I love animation so much. I don't have to worry about realism and I can be as stylistic as I please. So, I'll definitely watch this movie sometime. Will it be dubbed or subtitled in English? Or will I have to look for a fan sub?
Might give it a try because of that.
