Wow Amazing costumes in that Alien and Predator shower scene.
Really good use of music and you have most of my favorite scenes from all the Alien and Predator movies.
I never did consider it a crossover though. The giant Alien in the crashed ship with the alien eggs in it looks like an over sized one of the Predator aliens.
I actually kinda think all the Predators fighting Arnold an the rest are the kids and that giant corpse is the adult for them. But that's just me.
If this game is even half as good as it looks I should probably start building a new computer to be able to finally play a new game again.
Great Preview.

Despite some glitchy animations and less than "WOW" graphics, it looks like AvP will be a lot of fun. I just hope the storyline for single player is good too. Despite the bad reputation of the AvP films, the game series has usually always been awesome. I pre-ordered it awhile ago and based on what I saw in the demo and previews, I am not the least bit disappointed.

And yeah, nothin' scarrier than a facehugger.

I played the demo, but the one thing that seemed very wrong to me was how slow the marine moved when I'm not sprinting. It just felt odd to me. Especially because I remember playing the original game (well, the Gold Edition, but still), and the marine moved a lot faster. Aliens are still just as disorienting to navigate with as ever, though.

I played that 1999 Aliens Versus Predator, that game was indeed awesome. Playing the Alien was hard as hell, the marine set up those sentry guns from Aliens and they slaughtered me quiet a few times. Playing the Predator, after you killed someone you got bonus points for kneeling over them and clawing their heads off. Awesome. I liked the Marines the most because they had some classic locals for levels, like the colony from Aliens.
I want to play this new version. I hated the AvP movies but love the concept.

Err, I first watched this video on your site, Joe. And forgive me if I'm cheating (to lazy to create an account) but I have a question:
What did you meant by " The A.I. for the Unique Species Needs to be custom tailored to each race – not just one A.I. Rhythm."?
Thanks in advance!
Also, it's an AWESOME video. And thanks for the compliment! B)

I don't even need to see the video! You're awesome! That's awesome for putting good words into this game! You really turned my head on the home page!

As an alien it is always the greatest experience to run at a marine through machine gun fire, jump, stick to the wall next to him, then get the kill before he can even turn to look at you. Hell yeah!

02.11.2010 - 02:53 | TouchmybonerI've played the Beta on PC and... i didnt like it.
At all.
First i noticed a balance issue.
The alien is the most powerful class BY FAR.
The predator can be SEEN in stealth, so whats the point of having it?
Not only that, the weapons are hard to find, and all you have is melee, you cant kill anything with em.
Wel... except for the marine, the most useless class in the game.
I played a 1v1 when i was marine vs a predator, even when i saw him coming and fired away, i couldnt kill him.
He on the other hand killed me in 2 hits.
1 left click 1 right click, dead.
I only made one kill because i found a grenade for my gun, the rest of the weapons are bullshit, the shotgun is a joke, the flamethrower sucks, and the machinegun doesnt do enough damage.
And as you mentioned you dont have any insta-kill moves, another strike against him.
Granted i did like the radar thing, it really makes you feel hunted and paranoid wich led to some good atmosphere.
But i suppose i cant complain to hard, after al it was a beta.
However it did shatter my expectations, and i'm not planning on getting it.
Last thing:
This was a funny video nice job.

Sorry guy, your just not a very good marine player. That explains your difficulty with the game as a marine. I do quite well as one.
Its really quite interesting reading through all the forums related to this game as well as the comments here, at youtube and on my site.
Everyone has their own idea of which race is overpowered, most say marines, others predator and a few say alien. That indicates to me a pretty balanced field. Besides I think that SOME imbalance is allowed in a case like this.
A veteran alien player can kill anyone, as well as veteran marine or predator.
It wasnt a beta it was a demo - and a very terrible demo at that. Free for all limited to 8players was just about the WORST idea for the demo. I promise you the full game offers 6 other game modes that are far more fun.
Glad you enjoyed the video!

Yeah the choice of gamemode was purely idiotic. I think the game can be pretty atmospheric and I've had some atmospheric moments but the sluggish controls was my major gripe and the strange feeling weapons. I think this game also fits best on console(or so I've heard).
The balancing seems pretty good to me, I've seen players totally dominate with all three races.
I'm most probably not getting this game tho. The alternatives to this game totally eclipses this game so...

02.11.2010 - 04:58 | Dechha1981Alien Vs. Preditor WAR was the best comic I'd ever read. Unfortunately, the movie sucked. It was pretty much the anti-LotR because, while Peter Jackson decided to film a novel that was considdered unfilmable by actualy going all the way and making 3 really long movies at the same time that were full length on DVD and trusting the Audience to sit through such a long trillong, the guys who made AvP took a concept that many considdered unfilmable (even though it had been done in videogames and comics) and achieved it by taking out everything that would have made everyone's original vision unfilmable I.e. Awesome;
the violence of the original movies, the futuristic setting of aliens, the action of the Preditor movies, the horror of both, etc.
As long as this AvP game has nothing to do with the AvP movie I'm good. It's be great if it was based on the comic but we can't have everything.

I know that you acknowledged the prior games as an afterthought, but NONE of the gameplay additions are new from the original 2 games. To be honest, from what you've described, the only real upgrades from monolith's game from the late 90's will be an increased polycount. The original game is practically free since the studio that made it no longer exists and it contains ALL of the features that you mentioned in the video.
The main advantage to this release is that for the next year or so, you'll be able to find random multiplayer games, which no longer exist for the former release.

02.11.2010 - 15:59 | RaditzdmYeah I remember you mentioning it in passing, I'm just kind of suprised that you aren't really irritated by that fact more. I mean that's some pretty lazy ass designing if they are just going to take someone else's game and just update the engine. But I suppose if they take some of the ideas from the first one and apply it to the sequel, such as the destructable lighting and the xenocyborgs, and then update the level design and make a good original story I guess they can be forgiven :P It IS one of the best franchises ever made so even if it is a remake maybe I should be less critical.
-
Yeah! Because the 1992 game had stealth and trophy kills and extra abilities and exp and skins.... oh wait. :)

I'm incredibly looking forward to this game. At the age of about 3, I played my first FPS with my Dad: Alien Trilogy. My dad actually explained to me (a three-year old child) how the Alien life-cycle works. Since then I've been hooked. What makes it better is my Uncle, who collected the Dark Horse Comics of both Aliens, Predator and AvP, used to show me them and read some bits.
The demo rocks, and I have to disagree with Joe, the Alien is pretty easy to master and if anything the Marine is perhaps the weakest.
Also to Joe if you read this: I haven't seen one of those Kenner "Aliens" toys in ages!

I really loved the 1999 edition, still play it today. Very fun and I dissagree about playing it for the multiplayer, I played it because it was fun to headbite people and how all three storylines interact with each other. The marine was by far the most scarey, especially when you end up losing all you're weapons.
The last boss as the Alien was very hard though, that one predator could one hit kill you which is a pain since you're an alien and have to fight in mellee with it, but I eventually killed him.

02.11.2010 - 07:58 | HybrisAs usual, awesome video Joe!
I am glad somebody finally shines a light on the new avp. :woohoo:
I always loved both franchises and the previous games, though I had some minor complaints about part 1 and 2 on the pc, they were still great.
I am looking forward to playing this one very much, I just hope there will be lots of animations for the trophy kills, so it won´t just repeat all the time and get boring pretty fast. As for the human trophy kill, how should that go? I could think of a quick kill like in "the Darkness", but on an Alien or a Predator? Nah.
And of course face huggers are horrible, their like huge spiders with tentacles that hug your face... in a bad way ;)
Also, I would love to see it all in a different scenario, I would like to see aliens vs predator in a city. Not just this typical alien-movie colony stuff, but present, realistic buildings. That is a huge reason why I love the second Predator movie.
Thank you Joe for another great video!
And while I do hope the points you made are indeed that kick ass, I'm still worried. It's become franchise based on a crappy film franchise (the two together, not each on its own; the game franchise was an oldie but goodie). I hope they stick with the game play and not try to movie-it-up; I do hope they get this right, because I wanna see a PredAlien. And I am definitely playing as a marine first. B)
