Hilarious.
I unfortunately missed out on the original Steel Battalion. I remember seeing the adverts and the news reports, thinking, "Dood, that is so badass..." but the price kept me and my adolescent wallet away... even today, I still can't seem to get my hands on it, even on Ebay... I can get fracking out of print Sailor Moon complete series there for a buck-fifty, but I'm still paying 150 bucks for Steel Battalion AND the controller?
Also, I'm just going to come out and say it: I think the kinect is stupid. You're entitled to your own opinions, but damn it, I'm happy with my Wii... I don't need fracking Halo with motion controls, thank you very much.
And you are right Joe, this is like a complete 180 for the basic premise of the game. Is it going to be like G-gundam? Are we going to control humanoid robots via telepathy? Where is my mech simulation? Where's the little button that lets me wash the windows? Where's the ejector seat?! WHERE, Microsoft?! WHERE?!?!?
*Ahem* Okay, I've said my piece.

I dunno how it's gonna control, but I know that I'm gonna fall down taking a turn too fast.
C'mon, how many times did you fall down in that g-d forsaken mech!!??!?
Oh, and how many of you had friends hit the eject button on you?!?
Serious fistfights broke out because of that stupid button.

The original Steel Battalion sold like crap. Largely because no one wanted to pay for its controller, in spite of how OMFGWTFBADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AASSSSSSSSSSSSS it was. So, from a marketing standpoint, I can understand why they wouldn't be doing it again.
However...the Kinect? What the FUCK!? For a fucking MECH game? THE FUCK, CAPCOM!? THE FUCK!?
I like to play my games sitting down. It's why I play them. I play them to sit on my arse, wind down and chill out, not hop around like an aerobic break dancing instructor. Fuck. This idea is stupid. If they're not going to make it compatible with the old controller, or even offer standard controller support, I can see this title being a massive waste of money and time.

Whooo Boy I never played SB
I wanted to play it, but now it returns with a poor Motion Sensor system. I'm sorry But Give me a Controller. I do Agree with some about trying to bring back the Monster Joysticks.
I really don't gave a Fuck about their Retarded Tiger Smiling like a dumbass. I'd rather shoot it with a Buckshot. and that's my two cents.

09.22.2010 - 22:41 | YarumasiHey Joe, I don't really expect an answer for this but I'll shoot anyway: I noticed you're on a new youtube group called TheGameStation, do you plan on releasing Angry Joe videos there or is that a whole new thing you're planning? I'd love to see what you and all those other great directors could make!

Love watching you dork out like a robot Joe =D
Though seeing the preview, I think this game seems really interesting. If it actually manages to make the Kinect work well for it, then hell this game will be awesome. However, I just get the feeling that the Kinect will kinda suck so I'm gonna be jaded and say it won't work well. :sigh:

Okay, I am not an avid Angry Joe fan and I only watch reviews of stuff that particularly strikes my fancy. But dude, you got me laughing out loud today. Props to you.
I never played Steel Battalion because I didn't have an Xbox (and was, y'know, poor) but I remember being really excited about it anyway. The massive controller was what made it awesome. Without that, it's just another mech game, Kinect or no.

09.23.2010 - 00:17 | SqueejeeSteel Battalion is the most badass game ever made that nobody played. I even went to the Gamestop, looked at it, held the box in my hand, and felt the sheer badassery seep through the cardboard and into my hands, but I could only put it down with a heavy heart when I realized it was too far out of my price range.
As it is, I've actually been considering getting my hands on it now that I can afford it. But shit, some sellers on Amazon are asking for $1100, what the fuck?
Still hunting...

09.23.2010 - 00:23 | NeverpleasedI got the controller second hand. IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!
I actually am ashamed to admit that I really did do the cardboard box thing. It was just so awesome sitting in the cardboard box that I cut to fit on the desk.
I really was able to get fully immersed. Sadly the kinect bullshit will most likely force me to not buy Steel Battalion.
I am not paying for a fucking HD PSEYE in 2010. Just like I'm not paying for the HD Nunchucks in 2010.
Microsoft your ripping of a 7 year old idea from Sony and Sony is ripping of Nintendo.
Is there no originality? If you had to rip off anything why not make 2 power gloves? Wouldn't that be awesome. Holding the 2 power gloves like your holding a gun with force feedback!

This is just a testament to just how fucking stupid Kinect is as a whole. Nobody is going to buy it. Nobody should buy it. It's a gimmick that is hindered by its concept. Just Microsoft trying desperately to cash in on the Wii's success(Apparently they missed the bit where everyone got tired of the Wii's gimmicks after a week and just wanted straight up Nintendo games).
In fact, motion controls in general are just stupid. And the Kinect just takes it a step further into complete stupidity. It is almost as though Microsoft made something that utilizes motion controls so horribly that it is trying to get people to tire of it so that they can go back to traditional style gaming. It is flawed in the sense that there has to be a balance between response time and accuracy. You can't have both with today's technology. And even if you did have both, it suffers from the inherent flaw of people actually wanting to feel what they are controlling. Not waving their hands around desperately trying to get the game to do what you want to do. And taking the Wiimote out just exacerbates the problem.
Fuck Kinect, fuck the Wii, fuck PSMove and fuck motion controls. Let this fad die. Nobody except the shiny gimmick buying idiots like this.

Check out Babylon 5 Legend of the rangers.
This without the added benefit of a zero G environment. Truely a show ahead of it's time.
Anyways, yeah I love Steel Battalion for the controller! Makes the gameplay awesome. They should definitely have the controller be optional. I liked your demonstration of the Kinect too.

My USA propaganda senses are tingling... X_X
(As if that plot could rival Metal Wolf Chaos...)
And after hearing about these massive flaws of Kinect, I fear they'll dumb down the controls so hard that this game could basically be played with a normal controller. They just can't emulate the prequel's control scheme with Kinect. It would be fucking impossible to do ANYTHING.
Heck, I bet they'll remove all those awesome simulation elements and turn it into another FPS-sytle action game...
you'd think if you sell a controller+game for 200$, you'd make sequels use it, even giving an adaptor if the console changes.
meh, might be epic, though
