Yes, Space Wolves all the way! Rush in like big stupid idiot, prettending to be a viking... (compensating lack of manlyness IRL perhaps? - fanwise) and than get into the shit where you got to be saved by Ultramarines... again :)
Oh yes Space Wolves lore from novels and codex's is full of grand examples of epic battles... to the point where they had to be saved cause they got into so much shit. LOL
Big primitive manly barbarians are such a fun idols to follow for people who feel sexualy insecure.

07.29.2010 - 01:48 | EuroHakathis game looks awesome, but I really don't like MMO's, mostly because of the monthly fee.I don't feel like paying 60+$ for a game and then pay money every month, just to play a game, and in the end you realise that you've paid almost 200 bucks, and get bored of a game. (I can't get "addicted" to MMO's, like WOW, or such stuff)

Joe trying to take down a Space Marine, madness.
I will be happy if they include the main races (Joe forgot Tau, I am super crazy upset) but ignore what I like to call the side races, like dark Eldar and those wierd primitives that are allies with the Tau. But the daemons had better be with the Chaos Marines.
As for alliances, I would like it, but it is a very delicate gameplay/ story situation. And it has been done before. The wikipedia for the Tau says this "Recently the Tau allied with the Imperium to counter Hive Fleet Gorgon" Togeather they won, but then the Imperium tried to then kill all Tau.

Codices, it's latin dude! ;-)
Altough the Game looks awesome, and all these news sound really good - i'm still sceptical if the 40k universe as a whole can be properly translatet into an MMO-setting (especially when looking forward towards the endgame-aspect - raiding and so on). Also, like it's been told already, THQ had a mayor screwup with WAR, and i don't want to relive that experience.
Only time will tell, but so far one thing is clear: that guy with the power armour looked fucking awesome!
As always, thanks for the vid.

07.29.2010 - 03:18 | Commissar JakeIf I ever play it, I want to be an Imperial Gaurd Commissar... Come on! It's in my name. I want to be Commissar Jake, fighting traitors, heratics & Xeno skum in the name of the emperor and the golden throne...
I wonder if they ever read the 40k roleplaying games Dark Heresy & Rouge Trader (Two RPG's you should check out joe.)

What I'd like to see as playable classes:
*Imperium*
Imperial Guard officer (with guardsman squad 'pets')
Space Marine (up to Terminator armor)
Inquisitor (expansion; with retinue)
*Eldar*
*Dark Eldar* (expansion material, only if the game does well)
*Tau*
Fire caste
Gue'vesa
Kroot/Vespid
*Chaos Space Marines*
*Ork* (nob level, most likely)
...
I just can't see Necrons as being playable? The thought of these things hopping around town hall and chatting with other races is just ridiculous.

Looks like the races from Warhammer 40k: Dawn of war but hopefully we will get more than 6 races
Don't mean to be a killjoy, but I always thought WH40K had about six main races. Or species. Tyranids, Tau, Orks, Necrons, Eldar, (both Dark and original/Craftworld) and of course Humans. Which also come in two distinct varieties. Imperium, (also in sub-flavors; Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Inquisitorial squads, etc.) and of course Chaos. There may be some I forgot, but that's just the gist I got from it.
No need to take me seriously, though. Just stating my opinions, is all.

07.29.2010 - 04:00 | senninwithouth factions there will only be world pvp, which in its own is way better than battlegrounds but requires a reward system to
keep this compelling in the long run.
not having pvp would be a mistake,as blizzard saw fast enough with wow.
and making a mmo at this point is a gambit,we have cataclysm & kotor incoming and those are sure to get most attention.
in 5 years of wow many mmorpg's came out claiming to be the next best thing.and like i predicted none could stand against wow.
kotor will be the only one in my oppinion who will be able to be as succesful as wow.
and within now and a year people wll be playing either wow or kotor.

The guy really couldn't talk about much of anything. It looked like he was having a bit of difficulty with the questions because he wanted to answer a bit, but wasn't allowed to. I going to really hope things work well for this game. I'm not going to get it because I really don't get MMOs, but I still like the 40000K universe, and I'm hoping the MMO matches up well with it.
Nice video Joe. That space marine was immune to your lightning? o_O
You should recruit him for the army. I'm sure he would be a valuable asset.

I hope I can play with other space marines then the Smurf Marines (is what some people call the Ultra Marines) Altho lately I've been more into Chaos (I have a tabletop 40K Black Templar army and a Chaos Space Marine army...but don't really play anymore).
I have faith in THQ...they have done great things for the Warhammer universe gaming wise.

I really wish that Blood Angels, Dark Angels and Space Wolves are there as option. It would be shame if all that they would offer from SM chapters would be Ultramarines and other vanilla chapters.
-
07.29.2010 - 06:26 | MalygonWell, come on, playing Tyranids would be fun. I mean you'd create your character, watch him get born in a swarm ship and the first thing that happens is... getting controlled by your local Hive Tyrant. It'd be like watching a movie.
But seriously I have faith in THQ they did a pretty good job with the Dawn of War series and they definitly care for the source material. That's what important for me.

The issue is that those chapters not only have different equipment (Space Wolves don't use jumpjets except on the rookie scouts), some chapters don't use speeder bikes or dreadnaughts. But also different empthasis on tactics and how they interact with the different space marine chapeters and even Imperial forces. If you add multiple chapters then you have to add a lot more story scenarios which takes time how the Dark Angels interact would be a whole game for example since the Dark Angels are known to wipe out civilians willy nilly along with imperial forces, while the Ultramarines are the ones who consider indiscrimate killing of Imperical civilians and forces to be unacceptable.

07.29.2010 - 06:31 | SidstylerTypical GW mindset. The best way to hype up a release is to...NOT TALK ABOUT IT AT ALL, of course! The guys at THQ have apparently learned much.
Why even bother having a presence at E3 at all if they're not going to say anything about the game? I realize it's still very early in development and everything, but seriously, the guy was hesitant to even admit that Space Marines and Orks were going to be in the game, and the only reason he even answered that question is because you can see them in the trailer! Yeah, the guy walking around in the Space Marine costume was cool and all, but you have to have SOMETHING.
Despite my love for 40k I couldn't really give a shit about the MMO. Judging from the trailer alone (since we have nothing else to go by), it just looks like WoW with guns and will probably play exactly the same way.
Necrons and Tyranids are unlikely player races. *G* Who'd play a character with no free will? :p
The only Necrons with free will tend to be the lords and perhaps the flayed ones but those are insane. Tyranids at one time you had the Zoats but those got wiped out and any tyranid with indepedant thought charateristics is obviously wiped out.
K, as for the race, Tryranids would not be possible due to their dependence on the Hive Mind and the swarm. Necrons have no history coming close to being able to move alone (except the Lords, but that is sketchy at best. Dark Eldar, Orks, Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Chaos, Eldar, and Tau would work... but Fuck Ultramaines.
My armies: Cadian 6th Imperial Guard, Ulthwe Eldar, Morkai's Great Company Space Wolves, Bad Moon Orks, Hive Fleet Gorgon Tyranids (small at the moment T_T ) :D I think I covered the races practically
