07.26.2010 - 04:52 | BloodyFoxEjoying your E3 coverage? What coverage? The E3 is over, you're now just warming up old information - developer-fed information that is - so no, I'm not enjoying it that much. I'd rather see you doing a review for a game that has actually been released at this point in time.

07.26.2010 - 05:09 | SuperfantastischI'm really looking forward to this game. I'm just afraid my expectations are going to be too high. I don't want to be disappointed. =(

07.26.2010 - 08:22 | Kent_LangRight off the bat. The first thing this jackass says (the developer) makes me pissed: "We wanna keep players into the action." "We wanna keep an emphasis on Combat." These things were something you could choose in Deus Ex 1.
It makes me concerned when you'd rather compare it to Mass Effect instead of Deus Ex 1. And Deus Ex wasn't one of the best games of IT'S time. It's the best game of ALL time.

07.26.2010 - 08:47 | GoodguyAIf anyone has a chance to meet with any of the developers in the future, PLEASE try and find out if this game will support modding.
-
It looks like it has a ton of good things about it, I hope that its as good as you believe it will be :D

I think the Dev was to mean they wanted to make the player stay where the action is instead of having to backtrack scrounging for medpacks like a rat looking for food. Basicly to ensure you always move forward with the story instead or running back and forth.
-
07.27.2010 - 09:39 | Kent_LangYeah, I heard that the first time it was told to me.
In Deus Ex 1 you don't really backtrack that much because most Medpacks you would find pretty easily and they were pretty powerful if you levelled in First Aid.
The health issue I feel is better in Deus Ex 1. Because I once went in blazing in that warehouse in NYC to get to that reactor. When I came out my legs were gone so I had to drag my way back up to the roof where Hermann were waiting for me.
The new recovery system you kids are familiar with from Modern Warfare 2... it's not that great and kinda ruins the feel for the game because they player will become almost invincible and his injuries will never pose any kind of hindrance for his progression. The best game to handle self-injury is debatable, but I'd say SWAT 4, where you penalized with your accuracy and the likes when you get injured. They could have the regen effect in some augmentation like they did in Deus Ex 1 if the player doesn't want to scrounge up medpacks or have it as an initial trait.
To be honest, I had never even heard of the Deus Ex series until recently. Does that make me a bad person?
consider the first game has like 10 years on it´s neck, not really, but if you have the cash and steam I suggest you hunt it down, it´s silly cheap and a fun experience (tho in my mind the game hasen´t aged well)

This movie was amazing. The best I've seen in years. Complex without being pretentious great acting, and great effects. I was awestruck for nearly 4 hrs after and I want to see it again.
Joe was right you need to see it in theaters. No commercial or trailer will do it justice.
The movie is simply amazing.

07.26.2010 - 13:01 | zeitonaJoe, I've said it once and i'll say it again: You gotta play 'vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines'. It's pretty much what you're saying about Deux Ex. Yeah, it has its fair share of bugs, but you can fix pretty much all of them with the unnoficial patches available all around the Internet, but specially in planetvampire.com (You see, the company that made the game went bankrupt so its up to the community to fix the flaws of the game. I'm telling you, you'll be hard pressed to find a more atmospheric game than this one.

I have always heard that the Deus Ex games were good, but never experienced them fully. Despite that, this game does sound like it could truly be one of the greats if it is done correctly and carefully. I'm definitely going to watch it.
Nice videos Joe. Even now, it's nice to hear more about the new games shown off at E3. Although I have to wonder, just how many videos on E3 do you have backlogged for the site? No complaints meant, mind you, I'm just wondering. =)

07.26.2010 - 17:48 | YosatoI think I'm one of the few people who really enjoyed Invisible War; maybe it was because I played it before I played the first but for me it still rocked. The plot, characters, gameplay (minus shared ammo), and whole conspiracy really drew me in and I still hold it as one of my top 3 original x-box games along with KOTOR and Ninja Gaiden

Pt 1
You couldn't customize appearance in the previous games. Who needs it? Better to've more abilities, guns, dialogue options, etc. I don't buy shooters or RPGs to play dress-up.
You can here Joe's voice get high at the end of the interview as he's nervous.
Pt 2
Cyberpunk's the word you're looking for (that describes these near-future hi-technology settings).
RPG/shooters have been proven as far back as the original Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Deus Ex doesn't have a conversation system like Alpha Protocol or as many triggers based on previous missions (with freeform mission selection). On the flipside, I doubt Deus Ex will be as buggy.

"Deus Ex" has been my favorite 3D shooter - RPG mix until I played the "Mass Effect" games (which made me avoid computer games altogether because I couldn't find a single game to remotely live up to the quality of either "Mass Effect" game), so I really hope the third game in this franchise is better than the quite disappointing second game. I'm looking forward to a full review once the game is actually released.
-
07.28.2010 - 07:53 | BuffordYou should do a review of Starcraft 2. The following for that is enormous and from what I have heard some love it and some are disappointed by it. I wanna know if i should shell out the $60 for the game.
-
07.28.2010 - 20:45 | PAK215I don't usually play first/third person shooters, and I've only heard about Deus Ex recently, so there's a good chance I won't get this game. Maybe if I played a demo...

What I found the most fascinating about deus ex one was actually it's cool story with the conspiracy and stuff, which even included real facts from the world of conspiracy-theories, like (UNESCO) being founded by the Rockefellers and so on. You just felt like you were fighting all the corporate evil in the world, almost alone, being on the path of truth and learning that you can't trust your own agency. And it was the only good game ever that had a story like that.
I think the thing I like best about this is the idea of taking any sort of strategy to the mission and the procedural generated takedowns. It really shows how procedural and emergent gameplay should be encouraged by developers.
I haven't actually played the original, though. Does anyone think that it might be worth getting on Steam or something? Has it stood the test of time?
