brink sounds a little like bioshock meets freedom fighters, but whatever. I really like the concept behind the "no side being right". I've always thought that should be a more common theme in games. Oh yeah, I just wanted to throw in that you do a great job lisa, Joe is lucky to have you on his show.

07.01.2010 - 00:32 | CorpseFactorI sort of imagine it as a combo of Mirror's Edge, TF2, and Borderlands. Super stoked.
I think of BRINK more like Mirror's Edge with Guns Online in co-op & competitive, w/ a customizable character & 2 full campaign story modes.[/ quote]
I agree with this, It's free running is a lot like Mirror's edge, and it has GUNS! and CO-OP! it's the perfect game :D. Free Running+Customizable characters+guns, and 2 CO-OP Story modes! I'm so getting this O_O.
on the other hand Power gig looks very interesting being that I suck at guitar hero and Rock band because I play a real guitar XD. It's a nice dip into a new realm.

07.01.2010 - 00:36 | RoivasI'll personally have to disagree with the folks calling Brink a Mirror's Edge style game because of several gameplay elements that clearly separate the two. The major focus of Brink seems to be multiplayer missions with an experience point system and considering the class system this game is far more analogous to Team Fortress.
Mirror's Edge is designed as a solo experience with a single, linear story. Plus from all the postmortems I've read the game barely managed to get made at all. Splash Damage tends to do better at hammering out their gameplay core quickly but keeping the story pretty well into the background. From what I've heard Mirror's Edge was done the opposite way with the story being primary and the mechanics attempting to support it. The major reason for the story seeming so blase is due to the lead designer constantly scrapping the story for new ideas.
I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about Brink, even if it is just another FPS with a faction/moral choice system.
PowerGiG was probably the biggest failure booth at GDC in the spring since their prototype didn't even work at the time being. I don't expect the two other band game series have too much to fear from this late comer. Rock Band 3 seems to want a similar style guitar and already has access to larger and more popular bands while Activision's abomination of a series splurges so many sequels out a year I doubt even they would notice a drop in sales.

07.01.2010 - 00:49 | mexicanwaluigiBrink dude totally sold me and it looks like its coming out for pc too, so definitely gonna pick this up if it aint all buggy. The story isn't that big a deal to me, the 2 player co-op and versus sounds shweet though, as long as they don't do it like MW2 where you have to know someone else who owns the game to do co-op. Ugh MW2 has the worst online mode ever created for a game, its buggy, laggy, full of cheaters, stupid unavoidable mods, and no admins to boot. And now that most of Infinity Ward got fired it doesn't look like there will be another cod game like it.
But I like fresh franchises like Mirror's Edge, its kinda refreshing when game designers do something new, or like Portal, cause when hollywood tries to say a kung fu kid is the same thing as a karate kid there is no hope for tomorrow. Oh and the remake of Last Dragon can Kiss My Converse!

We're not talking about the similarities in campaign for Mirrors edge, we're talking about the Parkour mechanic, the free running. And how brink has a system similar to that of mirror's edge free running. nothing to do with the story telling or the single player co-op difference between the two.

07.01.2010 - 01:28 | HaloOfTheSunNot impressed with Power Gig considering Rock Band 3 will have a "real" guitar too, and will actually be capable of playing chords larger than 2 notes. Plus the addition of a keyboard and Pro modes for all instruments is perfect for those of us who are real musicians.
Add in the already 2000 songs available and Power Gig just doesn't have a chance.
As for Brink, I was apprehensive about it but I think I may give it a chance now and try it out. I think it has a lot of potential, hopefully it's executed well.

Two nice interviews for two rather interesting games. Nice job Lt. Foiles.
While I'm most likely not going to get PowerGiG, the idea they had of making the controller an actual guitar is an intelligent one. The tutoring mode also seems quite cool. I can see great potential even if I'm not interested too much.
As for Brink, I have to say that I've gone from not having heard of it to being mildly interested. I've always liked the idea of seeing a story from multiple different viewpoints and it seems to play alright. I'm also loving the idea of disguises. That is my exact playstyle and, if pulled off right, this could be really awesome.
I don't feel like playing another FPS right now because I feel like I've played too many, but perhaps when the game comes out, that feeling will have disappeared.
I hope that even more E3 videos will be coming soon Joe and Lisa. It's always interesting to hear about it. :)

...But...but what if I enjoy local multiplayer? :(
Why are developers neglecting local multi? Sure online is fun, and there are things like the disguise that you could only pull off in online multi, but there's really nothing like local multiplayer, in my personal experience. I just wish that there were more of a focus on local multi like there used to be with games like Goldeneye...
Other than that, both of these games sound pretty cool.

Wow, that actually made me interested in Brink. It never seemed that interesting to me until this interview, now it looks AWESOME.
As for Power Gig, nice idea but I quite literally have no more room for more instruments, real or fake. So, unless Rock Band 3 lets me play using my Rock Band 1 equipment, no more music games for me.
-
I hope they have a cheap and decent way to make those electric guitars, otherwise it'll be real expensive, or the guitars will be real crappy.
I'm leaning towards the latter.....
However, the concept of actually learning guitar through a game is promising. I saw the previous music game titles as nothing but a waste of software and plastic.
What was the point of those stupid games?, you never gained anything from them...

07.02.2010 - 05:05 | EranakMirror's edge is such an awesome game, shame it didn't get that popular. How much can you move around in Brink though?
-
07.02.2010 - 05:46 | DerenImagine a stealth or disguise option in a game like The Old Republic! Only problem is that there probably would be a lot of suspicion after a while and a function to flawlessly identify any infiltrating enemies (these bloody communists again!).
