It just seems like they tried to avoid giving any real answers. You should have pressed for information!!!!
But it was still you so it was still pretty entertaining

The single player mode isn't a copy but more of a homage to the original.
Especially Marines and Pred were well done in my opinion. But they are very very short.
The multiplayer and portation (dont't know the exact word) are the parts where it sucks. Hard.
As a PC gamer it's not a good multiplayer experience after playing AvP 2 all these years.
After finishing the (short) single player campaigns I didn't really play the game anymore because multiplayer isn't fun.
(eg: the insta kill moves are annoying and you often get yourself killed by executing a stealth / trophy kill and the melee feels half assed and unpolished)
Even Infestation gets old VERY fast.
I blame Sega for rushing the game and not letting Rebellion polish it.

04.19.2010 - 04:28 | HybrisWell, as usual. Content against money and time...
For me, the lack of iron sight even makes sense, even though it is a step back.
And exactly as I thought, they made the spitting alien and the preatorian guard the new alien types... there were preatorians in previous installments, come on... a little more bravery.
They shouldn´t have a lack of inspiration for a sequel, especially not with the new predator movie coming out, for which Robert Rodriguez already announced new predator creatures like hunting eagles and dogs.
Great video Joe and its also great that Rebellion really took the time to answer. :cheer:

I feel the same way. It was like they were really avoiding giving real answers so I was not satisfied to those answers. Joe should had prssed for information more than he did. That way we might had got more truthful answers.

Like Joe said on the Steam Forums :
It was a new experience for him and he tried to inject a little fun into it. If he would have been more harsh you may have got the usual "Not enough time / money / both" answer on almost every question.
I think he did a good job and we got one or two good answers from rebellion. Most of it is meh.. but still...

04.19.2010 - 07:08 | MunkeyAlso the reason i think Joe didn't press is because I think I remember him saying a week or two ago that he did the interview by email. If he had actually been talking to them he would have pressed more on some points, but due to the nature of using email for an interview method he couldn't do all he wanted to with this. Also I don't think to took everything quite as seriously as we would have liked, but since Joe isn't some big magazine that is well known in the industry they must have went into this thinking he was just a rabid fan with some friends that had a couple fanboy type questions. I liked the video and hope to see more, but I'm sure the people he's talking to will take everything alot more seriously if it was a face to face interview.

04.19.2010 - 11:30 | CageAquariumI have another favorite multiplayer game with no real female characters and on the forums for the game a topic creeps up almost every week that asks for female models and voices. I think it is just a matter of business though. Will the time and effort going into making a female marine actually warrant enough girls to buy the game to make the trouble worth it? Sadly, games like this with violence and horror are classically geared more toward men and the majority of buyers are male, so chances are it wouldn't be worth the extra work. At least, from a purely accounting perspective.

Hell yeah I got a question featured in the interview(altough one that was on EVERYONES mind).
Good job Joe for selecting diverse questions, keeping a fun atmosphere and most of all for the very achievement of having an interview with Rebellion.
It would be great if you and maybe the rest of the guys here at Blistered Thumbs could set up a studio that you can all use for various interviews. While interviews are helpful for both the devs and the player community, face-to-face interviews will be taken a lot more seriously by both sides and can have a role in the making of important decisions.

Wow, I think Rebellion broke my BS meter. I don't suppose I can blame him, though. Obviously, he's not gonna bash his own product. However, you really wish you could here a bit more honesty in some of the answers. Female marines have different body types? While that may be the case, the fact that you couldn't create some new animations for female models is just plain LAZY! And the bit about "new" aliens was pretty lame as well.

wow that was skitch? man! you made the AvP developer to sound like Snake!(ya i don't remember his name =P )
anyway, this whole talk gave me an idea for what would be a cool expansion...
i mean, playing as the facehugger as joe said would make for some really really intresting campaing(something like hugging different species to become different kinda aliens, thus making some kinda alien-ish interspecies-ish war!) AND multiplayer modes!

04.19.2010 - 09:54 | KingpoubarThere is an Arnie skin, my mate got it for pre-ordering the PC version.
It also said in the Steam details prior to the release "features 4 player co-op campaign mode".
If there is an AVP 2 (well 4, but ya-know) it better have co-op campaign. And Alien life cycles, I loved that in AVP 2.

I also think it's BS that they say they couldn't use female marines in multi-player because they use a different animation than the male marines, yet they're perfectly able to animate a stripper. Seems kind of sexist to me. Why not take the motion cap or programming time it took to create the stripper and use it instead for a female marine in multi-player? That doesn't seem to add up.

04.19.2010 - 17:10 | tyrong kojyThe acid spitting is caused by them cutting themselves and spitting. It's not a new species. And neither are Preatorians. I didn't think they'd give a real answer.

My question got picked!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:
*prances around in joy* :woohoo:
Aham! Thanks! I hope they pay more attention to it on a next AVP. (Same hopes for the new Colonial Marines game, actually!)
I was at first dissapointed with this AVP, mostly because I've always been a gamer for the single-player campaign. But after I tried the on-line mode, I'm hooked! :side:
I wish I didn't had to wait so long between matches, though!
Anyways, great video, Joe!
(And I'm not saying it just because my question got picked!)
You really proves how much the gamers can acomplish when united! A game company actually answearing to gamers' questions, hosted by an independent reviwer. (Our leader?!) XD
I hope more companies submit to your Interrogation. After all, if they hear us, we'll be happy and they'll make more money!
:P
(Now, how do I vote 6 stars??) XD
