Ive seen this really dumb comment so many times its frustrating. I know people want to add something but think about it.
CSI is a SHOW not a MOVIE.
CSI has multiple characters doesnt it? If any of them are in it, its different. This is one guy and a box the entire movie.
:talkbiz:

Argue Cast Away or Open Water instead if your trying to give yourself a reason to diminish this film for no reason.

09.30.2010 - 14:33 | Bill FelixThe CSI episodes in question combined equal the length of a movie. They also have the benefit of being directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Hell, the Grave Danger double-episode is sometimes even sold as a stand-alone DVD, which makes it something of an impromptu CSI The Movie.

09.30.2010 - 14:57 | DragonSniper97i agree with you, but the way its set out doesnt make it capable of a theater screening. I mean when the music builds up when someone says something important then blacks out for a break. Other than that, i do agree with you. =D

Not only is CSI a TV show (admittedly, the referenced episode is the two-part season finale by Quentin Tarantino,) most of the plot focused on the rest of the team trying desperately to find their buried friend, his best friend's feelings of guilt for having traded places with him, and hunting/dealing with the psychopath who buried him. Some of it did take place with Nick in the box, but it was hardly focused entirely on his experience. A fantastic episode, but not even vaguely what this film seems to be.
Unfortunately, there's no way in hell I'd be able to watch this film without having massive panic attacks...yeeeeeeeugh. A wonderful merging of phobias right there. Sounds amazing though! I'll definitely recommend it to my hardier friends. :)
Oh, and the cup on a string and the demands for monies had me laughing my ass off. Well done.

The bigger question is, given how the interior of a box is the most inexpensive shooting set possible, why has no one done this before?
The answer, I figure: because until recently, you couldn't have a phone if you were buried alive, and therefore there would be nothing to do.
If cell phones had existed in the 60's, Hitchcock would have made this. His cameo would have been tricky though.

This kind of movie is a real hit or miss for me. On the one hand, the idea for this movie seems really interesting, though if it is very similar to Cast Away then I doubt I'll like it. Though I think I'd go see it just to see Ryan Renolds acting ability, as I do think he is a fantastic actor when he wants to be.

09.29.2010 - 23:49 | YetAnotherGeekHollywood DOESN'T take risks. This was an independent film that just has a Hollywood actor and marketing. Everything else was really low key.
But other than that, it looks interesting...

Um, considering its an indie Australia/Spanish film, I do not think it gives credit to "Hollywood" producing good films. It gives credit to Ryan Reynolds, who usually invokes feelings of misery and anger out of me when I see him in a movie (like Blade Trinity). It will be interesting to see him in a movie I don't want him to die in.
Joe, if you liked this, seriously check out "2ldk" if you have not already. It's a minimalist film a lot like this one that has only 2 actors and one set, two actress roommates vying for the same role who slowly become crazy, jealous, and enraged as they struggle in their small Japanese apartment. It's awesome!

09.30.2010 - 01:56 | AmkusThe one location concept reminds me of the movie "Phone Booth". Of course, that had more to it than just Colin Farrell trapped in the booth.
I'll have to check it out.

09.30.2010 - 02:16 | NeverpleasedCould we say Joe "buried" this movie in praise?
It would be really funny if he wasn't even buried but just lying in a box in the terrorist HQ.

I dunno if the film is good, I myght see it on DVD, but right now what this look like a double rip off of Cast Away a rip off of Grave Danger. The CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode directed by Quentin Tarantino. :uhh:
And while Grave Danger is one of my favourite CSI episodes, I think Cast Away is OVERRATED to say the least! -_-

09.30.2010 - 13:30 | GoodguyAMoon had that isolated type feel, even though there were two actors in for the second half (not going to ruin it). I was intrigued to see this movie for a while. I think Ryan Reynolds is a great actor and a suspense film is right up my alley. If it actually goes widespread I might see it.
