How I'd Improve TGWTG.com (the site layout, not the content, sheesh)
I haven't blogged in a bit, and I'm taking a small break from making lists, ranting about upcoming remakes, and not making my next crappy video. I'd like to begin by saying I know nothing of website design technically speaking; I have helped design them from an aesthetic and user-friendly standpoint, though, but to no great degree and not for a living. And I know a lot of people are probably used to the site's current layout, as that's been the standard for ages now.
I just have a few suggestions on how things could be a little more streamlined. The content's great, no quarrels there. I've just got a few ideas how it could be presented better.
1. Lessen the amount of update posts.
I'm not saying lessen the amount of content production, I'm saying just take some updates out of the sidebar and home page slideshow. Like Blistered Thumbs. I know the idea is to cross-promote but honestly I tune out most Blistered Thumbs stuff since I'm not a heavy gamer and it just becomes clutter for me. I think it was a good idea giving the game reviewers their own home; that streamlines TGWTG overall and opens up whole new avenues for content creation and presentation. But when I come to TGWTG.com I'm looking for the latest Nostalgia Critic, or Chick, or Phelous, or Oancitizen episode. Not the latest Game Heroes.
