Why Feminism is Stupid.

Imagine with me, a new story the rocks the nation. A man mutilates a woman, slicing off her nipples, and peeling her breasts. A bit later in the same week, on a Big Network on Television, several men make fun of it, laughing, saying how she deserved it. Now, the question I pose is, what do you think would happen? Im not positive of the answer, but I'd be willing to bet those men didn't have jobs the next day.

So then, why is it ok, when a woman cuts  off a man's penis, and grinds it up, for Sharon Stone and her friends to make fun of this, on CBS? Think on that while I make my next point.

A few weeks ago, a feminist was asked to join a man for coffee. This was, somehow, sexualizing her. The man was a creep.

Recently in Russia, a man was shop lifting. He was caught, and kept as a sex slave for three days because of that, by a woman. She has countless fan pages, where other women speak about how 'empowering' it was. Now, think on how different that'd be if a man did the same, in reverse.

I remember an episode of the George Lopez Show. The block had found out a registered sex offender had moved in, and they , as a group, got up in arms. Until they found out the sex offender was a woman whom had slept with an underage male. Then, it was ok.

I'm getting to a point, and I think that's enough with examples. Now, yes, I know I've got a completely inappropraite joke of a demotivational poster as my profile pic. And yes, I know my only other post on this site to date has been a comment saying how I disliked the Nostalgia Chick. Neither of these things take away from the validity of the arguement I'm about to make, that, feminism is stupid.

Why is is stupid? Because it's redundant. Women are protected by both the media and the world, as a whole. At least in western society, I can't and won't speak for or debate the third world, asia, the middle east, etc. Let's stick to OUR culture , in this.

I've been told women make less money than men. My own experiance tells a different story. Seems as if every boss I've ever had, from age 15 when I started working, til now, age 31, has been a woman. Maybe a man here or there, but none sticks out, in my mind. In fact, almost all my female co workers made more than I did, be it hourly, or be it in tips and gratiuities. I suppose then, Not ALL women make less than men.

I think that's all I really have. Feminism is useless in anything other than the sense of empowering a group of people whom, to quote a comedian I like, but can't remember the name of, hold all the power. Parapharseing

"There is about as many women on the planet as there are men. It's safe to say they have about half the money. But they have all the pussy. Thats fucking POWER."

Hypocrisy is never good, especially for something like these situations.

There is a difference between EQUAL rights/treatment and SPECIAL rights/treatment (men having to sign up for selective service, while women don't among other things).

I can understand why feminism was started (the idea of a woman's place was the home only), since Women were kept down, but nowadays it seems like it's been taken to the other extreme by some people.

Also, on average women make less than men. Obviously you haven't worked in every store in the country to find out.

    A Free Thinker Saturday, 23 July 2011

Yeah you did, but you used your personal experience to say "well these women obviously don't make less", when the study was on average in the nation. It didn't say "every single women makes less than every single man in every single job and company".

  • cappadocian
    cappadocian Saturday, 23 July 2011

I think you're nit picking and attempting to make a point I made into something else. I said exactly what I meant, period. I also said it was my personal experiance, and went further to elaborate in saying 'not all women make less than men.' I wasn't speaking about a study, I was literally answering feminists that tell me, on an almost daily basis, that women, everywhere, make less than men, everywhere, In every single job.

What "feminist" has ever said that every single woman makes less than every single men? Also, where is it that you are encountering these "feminists" on an almost daily basis? Is it possible that you are trolling certain websites with this nonsense?

You're attacking only a single possible facet of feminism, mainly regarding pay differences and protectionism. Yet your blog title says quite clearly "Why Feminism Is Stupid". How can you make such a bold claim when it's entirely possible - nay, it's certain - you don't even know what feminism is?

Feminism, like any other race or gender based ideology, has long out lived its original purpose. It was necessary in the 60's and 70's because of the oppression women faced, but now it's become nothing more than a cry for those seeking victim hood and preferential treatment. I said it once and I'll say it again, all tribal mentalities need to die off now. We as human beings need to recognize ourselves as a single species.

I'm not sure if I misunderstood your first sentence, but are you implying that sexism and racism doesn't exist in todays society? Also, I think you're painting some very broad strokes over feminism - feminism is about wanting equal rights for everyone, regardless of gender, race or sexuality. Sure, we might have it better of today than, say, 50-40 years ago, but that doesn't mean that sexism and racism have just magically disappeared during the last few decades. Also, while your last statement is interesting, it's still far away from happening anytime soon. Until we can find a way to work out our differences and finding some form of mutual ground, we still have to fight back old fashioned ideas and the bigotry that still permeate society.

This comment just wins. You just really seem to get t Mia, and I feel like you an I are on the same page for this subject. Just had to say it.

I was not saying that racism and sexism don't exist anymore. They've become less prevalent in our laws and people are less likely to face them in society like they did in the past. Of course there's still individual racism and sexism, but individual mindsets can't be changed, at least not all of them.

As for feminism, I believe it was once about obtaining equal rights but has sense lost any semblance of its original purpose. Like I said, it's become a cry for those seeking victim hood and preferential treatment. That's my opinion of course, yours is obviously different.

And lastly, I realize a united humanity is a long, long way off. It was just simply a wish of mine. I probably should have stated that. I think if our species hopes to survive we need to drop all tribal mentalities.

    Thank you for your criticism.

Exactly how many people do you think were going to agree with everything you just said? I'll give you this: being a jackass knows no single gender. The misfortunes of both men and women aren't something to be taken lightly regardless of which gender it concerns.
But there are other standards. You claim that women hold all the power. You, sir, are not a woman. It doesn't appear you've discussed these views with any women. Perhaps if you do some REAL research before accusing an entire gender your claims will make more sense.

  • Zydrate
    Zydrate Saturday, 23 July 2011

I don't think he was blaming an entire gender. He was just pointing out the double standard our society has regarding men and women.

You can look up the footage of CBS's "The Talk" with them laughing about the man getting his penis chopped off yourself.

It's not just about being a jackass, it's the blatant double standard and hypocrisy.

  • Mia
    Mia Saturday, 23 July 2011

I have never watched "The Talk", but I find it rather disheartening that you seem to view those women as representing what all women must think. Just because those women treat what happened to that man as joke, doesn't mean that all women are going to agree with what they say.

  • Roler42
    Roler42 Saturday, 23 July 2011

problem is that women like the ones mentioned in the blog make the majority of feminists, they are the ones with the most contacts in the media, they're the ones making the most noise

you can't really blame me, or any other person for thinking feminism is stupid, specially when people like these are the ones representing them

  • LevelUpLeo
    LevelUpLeo Saturday, 23 July 2011

Maybe people should educate themselves on what feminism actually is before commenting on it then. And I say this concerning both genders. Women shouldn't call themselves feminists if all they're really doing is man hating, and men shouldn't think that just cause you call yourself something automatically makes it true.

You lost me when you cited the George Lopez Show like an actual news source.

  • 05Jooney
    05Jooney Saturday, 23 July 2011

Feminism is meant to be about equality and it is not about women being better than men. Those women on "The Talk" were not being feminist by making fun of a person being mutilated, that's just horrible and if they haven’t they should at least be made to give an apology if not fired. The same with that woman in Russia, I can't speak for the people who approve of that sort of thing so I don't really understand why there would be "countless fan pages".. well actually this is the internet there are probably fan pages for any kind of terrible things.
I don't know the contexts of the other examples so I can't really comment.

  • LevelUpLeo
    LevelUpLeo Saturday, 23 July 2011

I think you're missing the point of feminism by looking at other situation and people who miss the point of feminism. Also, this story:

Recently in Russia, a man was shop lifting. He was caught, and kept as a sex slave for three days because of that, by a woman. She has countless fan pages, where other women speak about how 'empowering' it was. Now, think on how different that'd be if a man did the same, in reverse.

Is fake (I can provide reasons). However, that doesn't change the fact that the people who say it's "empowering" are just wrong.

From what I get, feminism is basically about equality: not seeing the persons gender effecting a situation at all. The thing about a guy asking a woman for coffee is stupid, cause its making a non-sexual event about the person's sex with the complaint (and if it was flirting). I also think you're looking more at where the world is NOW and not so much how much work it took before we got here. I mean, a while back, rape was legal if you were married to your attacker, and I'm pretty sure some feminists had something to say about that.

All and all, your arguments are a little valid: there are people who are this hypocritical and claim it's for "feminism" and that is annoying and shouldn't happen. However, I think you may be a little misinformed.

you raise an interesting point and on a basic level im inclined to agree with you, it is worth remembering that feminism did serve a purpose in the past but in my experience in modern day anyone who considers themselves a feminist is usely just a manhater who's after preferantual treatment.

  • writrzblok
    writrzblok Saturday, 23 July 2011

Feminism, at its core, is about equality for women in what was, for a very long time, a stiflingly patriarchal society.

I remember an episode of the George Lopez Show....

...to quote a comedian I like...

The intellectual rigor of your argument is truly astonishing. Here I am, using facts to back up my arguments, when all along I could have been citing episodes of old sitcoms and half-remembered lines from anonymous comics. Hey, I've got an argument for you. George Carlin: "Women are crazy because men are stupid."

Women are protected by both the media and the world, as a whole.

In what sense, exactly? In my world, "she was dressed like a whore" is still considered a valid defense to rape. Hell, it's a valid defense to an underage girl being gang-raped (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7459716.html">http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7459716.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7459716.html">http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7459716.html, since I apparently can't put hyperlinks in this anymore). How, then, are women "protected?" Because there are some jokes you can't make about women on television? Yes, it is a shame that you can't make jokes about women being murdered by their partner, as it's clearly a great source of amusement for you.

Seriously, though, I'd address your argument if I knew what your argument was. "Men get mocked on TV and I had women bosses, ergo feminism sucks." Is that about it? Surely you don't think that that's going to change anyone's mind?
