3: I actually know some guys who are far worse than whatever anime has ever depicted. Fieldmice, man, fieldmice...
4: Blame the Japanese audience. They know who they are...

7: Again, I suspect the audience is to blame. Anime is after all a purely capitalist venture, and whatever sells gets replicated again and again.
8: Nostalgia. I'm betting Highschool is the highlight of most japanese's life. It's all very sharply down-hill from there. In scary, disturbing and depressing ways you wouldn't believe.
And from what I hear, japanese highschools do actually look like that. It is because in the forties somebody blew them all up, and they had to be rebuilt, and were rebuilt in the cheapest possible way from the same blueprints using pre-fab units.
Come to think of it, my highschool looks an awful lot like those in anime... hmm...
