Regarding this gimmick, I liked it. Visually it seemed a little shaky and it made the still intertitles a bit jarring. So you might want to tone down the shaking just a little.
Other than that, I enjoyed it.

I have a confession; I rented "Transformers" a few years ago, and the only reason I did that was because one of my favorite voice actors was one of the robots, but I couldn't even tell them apart. So not only did this movie nearly put me to sleep, but I couldn't even enjoy the awesomeness of Jess Harnell.

And a secret shame that I can no longer keep secret, my mother (that's right, my mother) likes this movie.
Her main reason is because she's always had a thing for cars, and she has told me that she wishes that she had Transformers when she was a kid. And given all that we have had to put up with moving around a lot overseas, she probably has an immunity to the sheer stupid parts of this movie. (She has dealt with far more horrible, stupid people in her lifetime. Trust me on this.)
