Meh, I would say that in general it does move a bit slower than most Sonic titles. Mostly because this game tends to require level exploration in order to get the "True" endings. But, I personally felt that this fact in no way ruined the game for me. So, if the game moving a bit slower than other Sonic titles bothers you, then I'd look elsewhere. If not, then you'd be depriving yourself of an interesrting Sonic experience with this title.

Sonic CD is one of the games which I haven't played yet, and what I did hear were mostly complaints on how it is the "slowest" of the pre-3D games, with a greater focus on level exploration. Would you say this is true, or is just a load of fan-boy nonsense?
