Da Pro: Lousy Villains We Adore 17: Herr Otto Flick
Greetings. I am that silly person who likes to ramble about bad guys who are either bad at being bad, good at being all affable and stuff, or plain hilarious. Or everything I just stated. And this is that blog where a silly person who likes to ramble about bad guys who are either bad at being bad, good at being all affable and stuff, or plain hilarious rambles about bad guys who are either bad at being bad, good at being all affable and stuff, or plain hilarious.
Didja get all that? Good. I don't care for being redundant. Neither do I care for making no sense. Now. Listen carefully, I shall say this only once. THIS! IS!...
LOUZY VILLINS WEE ADORE!
The show? Allo Allo.
The villain? Herr Otto Flick.

Flick the Gestapo, struggling to show an emotion.

To this day, Judge Doom still reminisces about the days when we was a Gestapo.
Herr Flick is the villainous Gestapo (Nazi Secret Police during the WWII) Officer in the comedy Allo Allo. The show's plot in a nutshell (a very tiny nutshell) is the following: there is a painting, The Fallen Madonna With the Big Boobies, and everyone wants it for some reason.

In fact, I can see at least two reasons why they would want the painting.
Amongst the big group that wishes to acquire the painting, is Colonel Von Strohm, town commandant of Nouvioun and Lousy Villains We Adore blog candidate, and Hitler himself. This is where Herr Flick shows up. He initially works on the behalf of Hitler, but soon decides he'll steal the painting for himself. Of course, easier said than done.
Flick is a master of disguise. Of course, this being a britcom, we all know that most of his disguises will be... erm...

Yeah, that.
By the way, the woman by his side is his girlfriend, Private Helga. She words as Von Strohm's secretary, but is of course a double agent. Like everyone in this show, she is weird. Her thing is the following: Whenever she is told to let anyone enter Von Strohm's study, she announces the name of the visitor. Quite... loudly.
Random piece of funny stuff: in one episode her knickers are stolen to repair an air balloon. Flick's reaction?
Herr Flick: Not zer vones viz zer little swastikas around zer edge?
Herr Flick loves Helga very much - when they are together, he rarely misses the chance to drop his catchphrase: "You may now kiss me, Helga". She proceeds to kiss him passionately, but his face STILL doesn't show any emotion. This one-sided kiss is often followed by a snide remark, courtesy of Flick the hopeless romantic.

Can't you just feel the love?
Working for him is also Von Smallhausen.

No comments there.
He is stupid. As a result, whenever he says something stupid (think Pinky-stupid) Flick hits him in the head with whatever he is holding at the time.
Now, for some random facts about Herr Flick!
- He owns his dungeon.
- He makes truth sera out of exotic crawlies.
- His favorite animal is the rat.
- He plays the violin.
- He believes using the word Gestapo as an adjective makes his gadgets work better. He is quite fond of his Gestapo Dance.
I could say much more about Herr Flick. But he appeared in a whooping 85 episodes of Allo Allo, so I'll just say this.
Flick. You are a sly and sneaky little bastard who makes crazy plans that seldom work. You never show any emotion, which somehow makes you hilarious. You have a silly sidekick. You are truly a prime example of... a lousy villain we adore.
HELGA, YOU MAY PRESENT THE INDEX.

My best yet? Awe, shucks.
Well, if you say so...
Hope this comment works!
Finally! A villain i have actually heard of! In fact, Herr Flick is my favorite character in this great show. Although it did always bother me how he says "Swastika", when it really should be "Hooked Cross". (Or "Hakenkreuz", but that's not exactly translating it into English!)
Well, we're talking about a show where different phony accents represent different languages - I guess it can be forgiven. I have learned something today.
Flick is indeed a great character. Although my favorites are still the two British pilots. They're so delightfully stereotyped.
Thanks for commenting!

Yeah, it tends to be like that with me. The large, obvious things that don't make sense barely get a thought, whilst the small, hardly-significant things usually really bother me. Am i the only person who sees it like that?
Sometimes. Perhaps because with the blatantly obvious things, we know they're aware of it and that they're meant to be ignored.
That's what happens to me at least. I think.
You won't be disappointed; every other character in that show is about as hilarious as Herr Flick is.
Hi Da Pro. Hmmmmm You know, this guy kinda looks like Nazi Arnold Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark-except Arnold wasn't comic relief-he was just creepy. Great lousy villain, my friend. I look forward to seeing your next one. Peace.
In fact, he was based on Toht, and the original character apparently was much more similar in personality. But this was a lighthearted comedy, so it wasn't possible.
Thanks for commenting!
yes....YES!!!...I can see two reasons why you would chose him to be on the list.
One I will not tell you, the other I'll keep it to myself, I don't care for being redundant but this was quite...interesting........and delicious.
In my honest opinion, this has got to be one of your best yet! I was laughing for most, if not all of the time I was reading this!
