Lori Ingham's Geekier Blog

My place for my own "geekier" film interests that wouldn't go on my general blog.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch....Ka-Ka-Ka-Ka....: The "Friday the 13th" Tribute Announcement

Now that I have all 11 movies, I think it's time for another movie experiment/tribute.

Because of my upcoming school schedule over the next couple of months, this might take me a little while to do, so hopefully the experiment will end in August.  And I'll be posting them a movie at a time, unlike the "Star Trek" experiment where I posted capsule reviews all in one post.

A Little History

For those who don't know, I grew up in a somewhat restrictive household when it came to movies.  I wasn't allowed to see R rated films until I was out of high school (although I "snuck" a couple when I was 17), so the whole phenomenon of actually seeing a "Friday the 13th" movie in the theater kind of passed right by me.  But I knew who Jason Vorhees was. When I saw they were on TV, I would watch the first few minutes, then shut them off because I thought they were "stupid."

One year for my birthday, my stepdaughter got me the boxed set of the first 8 movies released by Paramount.  I thought this was my husband's idea until he told me it was all her idea -- she asked him if I liked horror movies, then showed that to my husband in the store and asked him if I would like it.  Since then, I've told her that if she gets me horror movies in the future to avoid "torture porn" type stuff.

So I started to sit down and watch all the movies.  And guess what?  I thought the first one was really well done.  The other films kind of got stupider as they went on (although I will give credit for Parts IV and VI for having some good elements in them).

This year, for Mother's Day, I told my husband that I didn't want flowers. I put the Jason Slasher Pack released by New Line Cinema on my list along with the Nightmare on Elm Street Collection and a few other things.  He got me the "Jason" pack, which includes the last three films in the series.  So now that collection's complete.

So Tell Us What You're Planning To Do, Lori...

I'm getting to that part.

Each one of the reviews is going to be set up in the following manner.

1) History of the particular film

2) Plot of the film

3) My review of the film

4) Where it rates in comparison to the other films.

And again, it will depend on when I'm able to get to watch the films again in order to do this, so I don't want to commit to a time when I will finish this, although I will give it the old college try to do it once a week if I can.

In the meantime, se you around the blogs!
