Greetings this is the Reckoning Reviewer here, and this is my review of Batman: Under the Red Hood. I have been constantly told by some of my friends about this movie. So today I decided to actually rent the film and give it a look. I have to say that I was impressed, this is in my opinion, the only great Batman movie, and it didn't even go into theaters. That is an impressive accomplishment.

In this film, a new crime lord known as the Red Hood is causing trouble in Gotham for the crime boss known as the Black Mask. Batman gets involved in the conflict, but discovers something familiar about him, and the Red Hood seems to know Batman all too well.

The plot isn't too complicated like the Nolan Batman movies so I don't have that to rage about, it's easy enough to understand and played out well enough to catch the audience's attention.

The voice acting is something to praise in this movie. Bruce Greenwood does make a great Batman, he's not over-the-top like Bale so it's easy to take him seriously. He actually feels like Batman. There are some great scenes in the movie to show off how well he portrays the character, especially the climax which is the big thing to talk about.

Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing is awesome! I could tell who he was from the start, and I really like him in this movie. He was a highlight as he was just so likable with his clever lines.

Jensen Ackles as the Red Hood, also awesome. The character's helmet kind of reminds me as Deadpool from Marvel, and he's kind of like how Batman would be if he crossed over to the Dark Side. Seeing how he and Batman are different in the movie is really intriguing as is does show the difference between heroes and anti-heroes.

John DiMaggio as the Joker was a pleasant surprise. I remember seeing a lot of his voice acting work as characters like Leadfoot in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Sandman in Spectacular Spider-Man. I can recognize his voice right away, but he still does great, as he does more for the character than expected. You can tell it's him, but damn he does great in this role as sounding psychotic.

This movie is more awesome than anything Nolan could create. Screw Dark Knight, this is the best Batman movie. It's dark, but it doesn't go over the top with everything, it's all just right. It doesn't force things onto you when you don't want it. I cannot begin to tell you how annoyed I was in some of the scenes of the Dark Knight when they constantly shove things in my face. But in this movie, everything is just so right that I don't mind that we're going into a flashback in places, I don't mind that we see Ras Al Ghul's palace, it's mastered better than what Nolan could do for the franchise.

I know I'm bound to get some hate because I kind of bashed Nolan a little, but I don't care. Under the Red Hood is the best Batman movie, and I have stated my opinion once and for all.

Next is my review of GI Joe Rise of Cobra. Also, I'll be at the Las Vegas Comic Con in June.

I have stated my opinion once and for all.

And that's your problem: you keep stating your opinion without any defense or justification of that opinion.

The fact is, "I liked X and I think it's the best Y around," is not very interesting. Nor is "I hated X and I think it's the worst Y ever." I don't really care that you liked something; until you choose to explain why you liked or hated something, your opinion is without worth.

Here's what I mean. I hate Metroid: Other M (please do a "Why it's underrated" on that so that I can eviscerate every argument of yours with intricate precision and meticulous detail). However, I can actually explain why I hate it. I can go over every minute of that game and explain in great detail exactly why it is a terrible blight on creation. In fact, I spent over 400 kilobytes of text doing precisely that.

In doing so, I not only state my opinion, but I also explain, defend, and justify it. Even if you don't agree with it, you can at least see my reasoning for it and why I feel that way. And therefore, you can judge for yourself whether my interpretation is valid or not. With you, it's just a couple of paragraphs saying, "X was great in this film." No explanation of what about them was great, how it was great, or anything.

"I really liked him in this movie" is not useful information.

"I really liked him in this movie. His voice acting brought a nuance to the character that I hadn't expected, which worked well in the overall film because of how important the character is to the overall story arc. The way he says certain lines really shows just how much he cares about the protagonist." That's much better. That says something about a character and their role in the film.

My point is this: simply stating your opinion on things doesn't make for good reading. At least go into some detail on why you feel that way. Put forth some effort and communicate more than just "I like it, so there!"
