If you think the news of Net Neutrality being officially ruled against is nothing to worry about, Think.  Again.

Comcast is in the process of tying Netflix's hands behind it's back by forcing them to pay exorbitant fees in order to provide decent speed streaming to their customers.  When Netflix gets fees, you get fees.  If any of you use Netflix, you can be sure your monthly fees are about to skyrocket.

This is just the beginning people.  Comcast is only the first in the chain of cable companies to take advantage of broadband internet services, but it is probably the worst.

Hi TGWTG, and welcome to spectrum-pulse, where I take a deeper, more in-depth look into music, movies, art, and culture.

Today, in a Special Comment, I discuss the disquieting aftermath of the Elliot Rodger shooting and deliver a digression that's been long-in-coming.

Apparently the courts of this great nation of ours has failed to uphold the FCC's order for Open Internet, which makes things very difficult for users.  Big companies can now take advantage of overzealous control of internet usage by blocking sites or charging heavy fees for its usage.  As if cable and internet providers don't abuse their customers wallets and access enough as it is, but now said companies are looking at the special privilege of not allowing access to sites or discriminating against them.  ISPs are NO LONGER PROTECTED and they have the power to block any website provided by their company's internet supply.

Well, I guess we now know what to expect in the next edition.

Leaked onto the internet a few days ago were images from a White Dwarf article discussing what is planned for Warhammer 40,000's next edition. While certain specific were avoided, what is discussed has given a clear indication of what direction the game will be moving in and of some new ideas. While most images are unfortunately blurred with some text unclear, what is present on the pages is enough to confirm some of the fandom's worst fears.

Starting with the one positive element here, it has been stated that a new psychic phase will become a part of the next edition. Much like the re-introduced Overwatch rules and similar elements, this is a move back to including certain parts of the second edition of 40K as much as it is lifting more elements from Fantasy. It further promotes the importance of psykers on the battlefield and will work with the following rules -

Well, we all knew this was coming.

A few days ago it was announced fully that the Star Wars EU was to be rendered completely and utterly non-canon. To give freedom to new directors everything written from Return of the Jedi onwards, and anything which might link into it, is to be utterly ignored. It's a bitter pill but one many understood was soon going to happen. I accept that. What I do not accept is the sheer lack of respect shown and the disgraceful way this is being handled.

Say what you will about JJ Abrams' Star Trek and DC Comics' rebooted New 52. Both had their flaws but they did not simply pretend everything which had come before had not taken place. A massive sendoff was given to each universe and its characters along with the establishment that the new stories were taking place in a new, alternate dimension. What people had invested themselves in for decades, the stories and characters they had cared about were not simply treated as if they had never existed.
