Spongebob has always been a show best watched in small doses. More than enough people have been sucked into the surreality of the "Spongebob Experience" and wondered what the hell just happened. Things like an introduction by a painting of a pirate, a squirrel that lives in a biodome on the ocean floor, and elderly retired superheros played by Tim Conway and Ernest Borgnine.

The pinnacle of this strange and wonderful universe accumulates into the full length "Spongebob Squarepants Movie". The premise is simple: King Neptune's crown has been stolen, therefore it's up to Spongebob and his starfish friend, Patrick, to save the wrongly accused Mr. Krabs by going on a perilous journey to retrieve the crown from the vicious gigantic Cyclops (a scuba diver with a sea knick-knacks gift shop).

But the movie itself is actually a chronicle of Spongebob's journey, making his way through terrifying and overwhelming odds with his best friend. He also comes to grips with something that he feels has been holding him back for the longest time: he's just a kid. He tries as hard as he can to be a man, but every single time the odds press against him, he keeps seeing himself as a kid. So finally, he just accepts that which he is. And what is that...?

"I'M A GOOFY GOOBER! ROCK!"

He breaks out, in the middle of the chaos the evil Plankton has wrought into a rock and roll song so intense and insane, it can only be described as...breath-takingly mind-blowingly AWESOME. The entire song is an opus to his kiddom, his happiness with being just a kid and damn proud of it. Just as Plankton's minions (the mind-controlled denizens of Bikini Bottom) attempt to bring him down he transforms in an explosion of light into a Rock and Roll GOD, flying on the power of pure rock and roll energy and sporting a guitar solo with "chops so righteous," it destroys every single mind-control helmet in Bikini Bottom.

What movie can ever claim that it was the power of pure, unadulturated, righteous rock and roll that saved the day? None...and that's why the Goofy Goober ROCK is one of the things I know is awesome.
