Despite what some people have said about Spiderman 3 I still liked it. Sure there were some things that could've improved but overall it was still, in my opinion, the best Spiderman movie out so far. Why? Venom. Harry Osborn as "The New Goblin"? I don't know for sure but was there ever a "New Goblin" in the cartoon series or comics? I don't remeber that guy but I do remember Harry Osborn as The Hobgoblin. Right? I know there was also another guy who was called the Hobgoblin but that's not what we're talking about. Now the whole Venom apparently being destroyed thing. That's a little annoying cuz now how the hell are we going to see Carnage? But you know what I think? Remember when Peter gave a sample of Venom to Dr.Connors to study and the rest he kept? Well what if that sample was kept alive, therefore growing into a normal size venom "copy" and reproducing Carnage...... yes? Maybe. Anyways Spiderman 2 was ok but it just wasn't there for me as much as Spiderman 3. Spiderman 1 was ok back then but it just established the Spiderman character for future movies and for me I always like the sequels to those establishers. For those of you who never seen Spiderman 1-3 go see it! It's a decent trilogy about a nerdy kid who gets transformed into one of the most well known superheros ever. Plus he lives in New York City so it adds to some realism. Lastly you don't have to read any comics to understand anything but it would help to add some background information to understand how major these villians, like Venom, are to the mythology.
What do you guys think? Favorite movie of the series? Comment! I always like to read comments.
Yes, Venom only got about 10 minutes of screentime, which pissed me off.
And the ending was pretty dumb (Sandman apologizes and just leaves??)
I did like the storyline, though. It was well-thought out and executed.
Also, the "New Goblin" in the movie was actually just Harry going crazy and dressing up as the Green Goblin in the comics.
I mean, his father died, could you blame him?
Also, despite the fact that I laugh every time I see it (it's just so stupid it's hilarious!) the Emo walking scene in the movie was ridiculous... I mean, come ON !!
Sandman: He's a crook with a heart of gold. Yeah, like this hasn't been done to death already.
New Goblin: I loved Harry, I loved the development of his character, and I was excited for the arrival of the New Goblin. So imagine my dismay when the Goblin finally showed up, and essentially amounted to amnesia, Pete and MJ breaking up, and the intense, brooding, complex villain that had been built up over the course of two movies being completely destroyed because a butler decided that the end of the THIRD MOVIE would be a good time to say that daddy killed himself. This is below even the level of daytime soap operas.
Venom: Raimi didn't like Venom and didn't want to use Venom. The studio insisted that Venom be included. This amounted to awesome-looking movie posters and not much else. Venom would have rocked in his own movie. However, with two other villains to compete with, his involvement became a joke. Instead of a dark, interesting storyline, we got a farce on the level of Superman 3.
And that was the problem that I had with Spider-Man 3. But hey, at least Bruce Campbell was entertaining.
For me, Spiderman 3 got me the most involved because I actually cared about the characters. I actually felt something for not just Peter, but Harry, Mary Jane, and even the Sandman. The problems that Peter and MJ have are real identifiable problems, and we see another sacrifice that has to be made when devoting yourself to the life that Peter chose. When I first saw it, people gasped three times in the theater; when Peter almost loses the ring, when MJ kisses Harry, and Peter punches MJ. Any movie that makes the audience gasp three times is doing something right.
Where I lose it is near the end. Everything seems like it's building up to something big, but not only is there just too much going on, it ultimately goes nowhere. In fact, it almost takes a step backwards. I don't feel like anybody gained any knowledge or learned any lessons, if anything, Peter goes back to square one and doesn't really evolve as a character. That bothered me, but then again i never read Spiderman growing up, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
I guess if people don't like the movie I can understand, but why do so many people think the other two are great masterpieces? They have just as many idiotic and laughable scenes in them. I dunno. I guess I wrote a lot here, I just always thought this film got kind of a bum rap while the others got way too much praise. But what can ya do? Later.
But, overall, I absolutely love the series.
But yeah, I still enjoyed it. It tied up loose ends in a satisfactory way and it could have been worse. It could have been a hell of a lot better, too.
Then again, I might be pretty much alone on this, but I'd like to see movie with Mysterio. He's certainly more interesting to me than Venom.
The Spiderman Trilogy

I knew that the director didn't like Venom. The reason? I think he said something like he grew up with the older villians (sandman) and he never got into Venom cuz that was a newer character. He also wanted to get into the life of Peter Parker more than Spiderman. That's what he said, something along the lines. The freakin movie is called Spiderman. If someone wanted to make a movie revolving around Peter, than make a freakin movie called Peter Parker: The Peter Parker Chronicles
so i'm just posting this comment to make it 14
