NEW A&W ROOTBEER FLOAT!!!!! Rich rootbeer with ICE CREAM flavor! <- on the bottle.
A&W is famous for two things: Restaurants with big burgers and delicious rootbeer. It's clear that floats with ice cream and A&W rootbeer are exceedingly popular by the way several grocery stores place their two-liter bottles so close to if not in the ice cream section. So to capitalize on this, A&W attempted to invent a soda reminiscent of rootbeer floats.
There's still a hint of A&W Rootbeer flavor that still exists, so it isn't completely unbearable. And if you close your eyes and concentrate on an image of ice cream really hard, you might be able to convince yourself that the taste is some kind of ice cream. I still think it tastes like they just put coffee cream in a bottle of A&W though. They were closer when they came out with vanilla rootbeer.
I've tried it at various temperatures. It seems to slightly improve when it's colder. Maybe it could be a suitable frozen snack. It's mediocre at very cold, but the taste is poor when it's just cold and piss poor at a lukewarm temperature (to no big surprise).
As for the price, it's cheap by today's standards. A&W Rootbeer is well over a dollar a bottle and this is currently 4.16 for a case of four at my grocery store. The price will definitely go up should demand skyrocket. Since 1.04 is too much to ask for something that tastes so horrible, I don't foresee that happening to a great degree.
I do not recommend this product. They also came out with an orange soda one, which isn't bad. If someone else buys me a bottle, then I'll drink it. Maybe.
