Postoween Ponderings
To be honest, as much as I love Halloween, I can't deny the fact that by the time November 1st seeps in I'm exhausted as death. I'm pretty I'm not a super special sparkly snowflake with these thoughts as I'm sure everyone else on the planet has similar views. It's the kind of day where you don't have the vigor to complete any tasks you may have had nagging away at you but, miraculously, everyone has enough energy left over to pray for a holiday.
This is would be the part where I come blazing in on a white horse, with a trumpet in hand (despite the fact that I have miniscule talent with musical instruments) eager to propose a brand new holiday:
POSTOWEEN!
For you clever ones in the audience, that's a post-Halloween holiday. A day for everyone to wind down from that frenetic annual celebration the night before; the little trick-or-treaters can sift through their candy collection without fear of creepy decorations or their fellow classmates scheming to snatch that gigantic chocolate bar they got from the Smith household (you lucky bastards!), their parents can kick up their heels knowing the pressure to create that detail for detail replica of Batman's famous armor or whatever the hell Hannah Montana's sauntering around the stage in...at least until the next October rolls around (or, if they're particularly ambitious, taking down all of those elaborate Halloween themed contraptions peppered throughout the house), your precious pooch Rex can thank his lucky stars to Saint Barkabas that those blasted fireworks have finally died down (whatever you do, don't tell him about New Year's Eve), those hardcore Halloween party animals can peacefully wake up from their hangovers and wonder what the hell did they do last night to end up here in that strange man's bed (or make sure they didn't do anything they know they'll end up regretting by the time the week is through).
Perhaps the best thing about Postoween is not just the discounted candy at the supermarket (though candy in any form is pretty awesome in itself); it's the comforting knowledge that we can sleep in ‘til noon without ever having to eventually set foot for school or work. A cozy lull after the storm, it would be a lot like Boxing Day except without all the insane mobs flocking to the shopping mall for all the leftovers no one wanted for dirt cheap...though the supermarkets and candy shops would have a field day with Postoween (just don't let the corporations catch wind of this day).
So...is it just me who would just hop at the chance for this holiday to come into fruition?
Fine. More sleepy time and chocolate for me then.
Until the next real article, this is TheDramaticMonarch, signing off with a catchy catchphrase.
Happy Postoween and prepare yourself for the next oncoming holiday: Novembermas!
