Kung-Fu Panda
What attracts people to this movie? Is it the premise? The trailer? Nope, none of those. What it is, is the voice-acting cast. Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan. Lucy Lui, Angelina Jolie, Jack Black and Seth Rogen. That's what made people go see this movie. So me and my friend went to see it just because of the cast, and guess what? The only people in that cast with more than about four lines was Angelina, Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman! So obviously, that should've made me angry, right? Well no, because this movie didn't even need those other three people in it, it could've had random janitors off of Redfern for all I care! Because this movie was hilarious and the action was awesome!
The movies about Po (the panda, aka, Jack Black) going up to the Jade Palace to hear the announcement of the Dragon Warrior. A warrior who will bring peace to the town. Po tries to get over the palace walls and accidentally drops in front of the master as he's pointing down at Tigress (Angelina). So Po now has to become the Dragon Warrior. Also, Tylon (an evil tiger, banished into prison after going on an angry rampage because he wasn't allowed to become the Dragon Warrior) has escaped and Po must train up so he can defeat him. What follows is hilarious scenes with some amazingly done action.
The action is usually done using some freeze shots or bullet time moments which show some cool moves being pulled off. There are heaps of action scenes and all of them are extremely entertaining both comedy-wise and action-wise. Especially the one when the five kung-fu champions go off against Tylon over a rickity bridge, that was sooo cool!
Now the best thing about the comedy was that it's appealing to all ages. Because it was a PG movie, there were kids ranging from 3 years old to grandparents. So there were teens, adults, grandparents and babies. And everyone laughed at all the jokes, which is quite a feat to pull off. So it was good to hear everyone laughing from the little cute baby laughs to the big and manly laughs of the adult male. What was the best thing about the movie? Seeing everone walk out of it smiling and laughing! And I might just go out and rent the game tomorrow!
I give Kung-Fu Panda: 79%
