Alright Ed, Edd, and Eddy. It's the only original Cartoon Cartoon still running to this day, and many consider this show to have animation equal to that of an acid trip. I would agree. (Dammit! So I ordered Superman TAS Volumes One and Two, and I did Two Day Shipping, and you know what Amazon tells me? It'll be here September 3-10. What the hell? How long could it possibly take them to ship two DVD's? Normally they ship it within hours!) Sorry about that. Anyway today on Aninmated Awesomness we're going to be taking a look back at one of the greatest cartoons of all time: Ed, Edd, and Eddy!
I always found Ed, Edd, and Eddy to be a strange show. When I was little I was very much turned off by it's unconventionalites. For example the start of the show having nothing to do with the actual plot of the show. I also found the animation very strange. However now that I'm older and wiser I've begun to enjoy this show a lot more. Using a cast of only twelve characters, all of whom are white, and live in the sterotypical American neighborhood. The only foriegn character is treated as a very strange person, not in touch with America. Now at first I thought in a way this was some form of social commentary, but after checking Wiki I discovered that all the characters were based off of people in creator Danny Antonucci's life.
The typical episode involves the three Ed's. The first of the three is Ed. Though not actually outright said on the show it's pretty clear that Ed has a mental dissability. Ed is pretty much the "idiot" of the group. He lives in the basement and is surrounded by all kinds of disgusting shit. He loves 50's sci fi movies and horror comics.

Ed-the "idiot" of the group.
The second of the three is Edd a.k.a. Double D. Double D is the smart one, but boy is he an ass hole! In one episode everyone on the Culd-E-Sac starts breaking the rules, so what does Double Dipshit do? He calls the parents. Now I do like how much of a genius this kid is, because frankly I'm just as smart as he is, but I'm no prude. He's that kid who's going to get his ass served to him in high school, only to become an outcast, and tormented in life. He'll then change his name to Edward Nygma and move to Gotham where he'll create a computer game called Riddle of the Minotaur, and the rest is history. He alo always wears a ski cap, I wonder why?
"Double D", the smartass prude of the group.
Finally we have Eddy, the guy who thinks he's hot stuff, the cool man, the guy who sets up all the scams. Eddy wants nothing more than money for Jawbreakers. Eddy also has an older brother, but what happend to him is a big mystery.

Eddy, the "cool dude" of the group.
So the basic gist of each episode involves the Ed's doing something random, and then Eddy gets an idea for some insane scam, and tries it out. They never work. I can't even describe what some of these are, they're just way too crazy. Not all episodes are about a scam though. Some involve such things as the three psycho Kanker Sisters who have the hots for the Ed's, or one involving a vendetta against the Ed's.
There's also a whole slew of supporting characters such as Nazz the girl next door, Kevin the ass hat, Johnny the meek girly boy, Johnny the crazy kid, Plank Johnny's "best friend" who seems to have a mind of his own, etc... The show does a good job of using these characters and playing their strengths and weaknesses.
Alright time for some Ed history. Created by Danny Antonucci, the show was originally slated for four seasons, however Cartoon Network aprroved for an additonal two. The first four take place during the summer, with the fifth during the fall and expanding to the school. The sixth which is on hiatus for a feature film is to take place during the winter.
Not much is known about this film, although it's supposed to be about Eddy's brother who like the adults is never shown, only mentioned. It should be a good movie, and hopefully it works out.
Well I guess that's it, post some comments, I'm open for personal attacks, feel free to call me names. ZGDK out.

For me this show was a modern day snoopy show with it revolving a round kids with no parents in sight. This is probably one of the very shows that make me turn on cartoon network nowadays. I didn't know it was still going.

This show has a place in my childhood, mainly around Ed and Edd. I didn't care much for the Eddy character. In fact, if an episode wasn't filled with either a shit-load of Ed's randomness stupidity or Edd's smartass remarks, I probably wouldn't be too interested.

I think Eddy had his place, i always found that the reason the 3 worked so well is that they balanced each other out for example:
Edd:clever but kind
Ed:Stupid
Eddy:smart in his own way but mean

i think he wears the ski cap because he either has good looking hair that he wants no one to see or he's bald...

Ed. Edd, n Eddy has to be one of my most memorable cartoons..
I'll just list of all my nostalgic cartoons that I would remember when I get older
1- Tom and Jerry (I used to watch this soooo much when I was a wee kid)
2- Scoobie Doo (Who doesn't know good ol' scoob?)
3- Ed, Edd, n Eddy (A boisterous show, but somehow enjoyable o_o)
There were other shows like the Flintstones and Supersonics, but I didn't really liked them.
These shows are nostalgic like mutant ninja turtles towards the NC, but to me.

I loved this show as a kid, much to the dismay of my parents who, being good parents, would prefer that I watch something that wasn't Ed Edd and Eddy. Still, I watched it anyway and I even tried to learn as much as possible. My friends and I would quiz each other on EE&E trivia like "What are the names of Ed's Seagulls?" I only remember Victor and Petunia. I especially loved Ed's non-sequiturs about buttered toast, gravy, and chickens. "A is for helping which comes from a tree. B is for lifting Edd and Eddy. C is for grapefruit, which I don't like when bitten except with cranberry relish and a hint of lemon." He was my fave. "I smell like fresh-cut fruit flowers, spewing over a babbling brook with a hint of lemon." As you can see, I'm interspersing my dialogue with Ed quotes.
This show was freaking awesome!
