00frodo's Awesome Movies Volume 4

Joshua Smith

Welcome to my fourth volume of movies I enjoyed. I will keep this series alive for a little while, but I may switch my focus to reviews eventually, where I can go more into depth on movies. However, the occasional volume is possible.

1) Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs

I enjoyed the first futurama film quite a bit. This one was just as good, but in a different way. Bender's Big Score excelled in story, creating a compelling time travel tale that was complex and heartfelt, but lacked in the laughs. The opposite is true here. There are many laughs here but not a very good story. The narrative is not abysmal, but it is kind of mediocre. Many of the characters are found slightly out of character, and there are no heartfelt moments or complex plot threads. But, as I said the film is very funny. The Robot Devil cameo is particularly hilarious. Zapp Brannigan is also given a much larger role, which was much welcome by me. The third movie looks to be quite good, and I can not wait.

2) Sin City

This adaption of Frank Millar's Sin City graphic novel series takes three stories and recreates them perfectly with a unique visual style that is always fun to watch. The film is in black and white, with the occasional color to make something stand out. The result is stunning and a style that is sure to be mimicked in years to come. The acting is strong in this film, with Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke giving astounding performances as John Hartigan and Marv, respectivley. Out of the three stories told, my favorite has to be The Hard Goodbye starring Marv. It is alot of fun and action packed. Check it out if you haven't, because two more movies have been stuck in development hell for a while. I just hope they get out soon.

3) Jurassic Park

This needs no introduction. Jurassic Park is a classic because it gave audiences the first realistic dinosaurs potrayed on the big screen. Hell, it still holds up today and if you haven't seen it, you have no right to be watching movies and should watch it ASAP.

Thanks for reading and comment if you wish. And if you missed my advance review of the new X-Men series, the link is posted below. Until next time.

While the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are considered inaccurate by today's standards, it's still an amazing movie. It just looked real and felt real, which is a rare thing for dinosaur movies to pull off.

I really need to watch the Futurama movies!
