Salutations. This is my second rant, this time focused on a movie that brings my piss to a boil like no other: Terminator 3.

First, lets give a quick overview of the series. The Terminator came out in 1982, written and directed by James Cameron. The plot is the most simple of the Terminator films. Skynet, a sentient computer, kills off most of humanity and creates Terminators to wipe out the rest of the humans, who have formed a resistance lead by John Connor. Skynet sends a Terminator back in time to eliminate Sarah Connor, the mother of John Connor, leader of the resistance. The special effects are not very good by today's standards, but the interesting story and good execution make it a film that still holds up today.  The movie was a hit and went on to make 78 million worldwide off of a 6 million budget. I give it a 8 out of 10.

9 years later a sequel was produced, again written and directed by James Cameron. This sequel was the shit. It took everything that made the first film great and improved on it. The special effects kicked ass and are still impressive, the story was kicked up a few notches by adding a good and a bad terminator to duke it out. The story is a rehash of thew first one, but done so well all can be forgiven. Having failed to prevent the birth of John Connor, Skynet sends back a T-1000 to take out John this time. The resistance sends back a reprogrammed terminator to defend John, and the madness begins. The T-1000 is a great villain and you really do believe he can kick Arnold's ass in this movie. Arnold also gives a great performance, adding depth and characterization to his character that deepens over time. In case you couldn't tell, I fucking love this movie. As far as action goes, you can't get better than this. As far as story goes, you can't get better than this. Terminator 2 is a nearly flawless film and one of the few films I consider to be a 10 out of 10.

In 1996, Terminator 2 3D opened at Universal Studios Florida and later in Hollywood. This 12 minute theme park attraction reunited the cast of Terminator 2 ans was again written and directed by James Cameron. This show is awesome, and what I consider to be the real Terminator 3. Sure, the plot is never really specified and it can be considered non canon, but I really enjoy it every time I see it at Universal Studios Hollywood. It is still playing to this date, and I recommend you check it out if you get the chance.

In 2003, Terminator 3 was released. It was neither written nor directed by James Cameron, and the only returning cast member was Schwarzenegger. Oh boy. Where to begin.... Well, for starters John Connor is a sniveling little pussy who hides from his own shadow. The brave kid shown in the second movie is gone, and instead we get this little asshole who is afraid the world will end at any minute. This is mostly due to the fact that Sarah Connor is dead. So, he is living off the grid when he meets some girl he had feelings for before the events of the second movie. By leaving in the second film, he stood her up. Meanwhile, Skynet sends a T-X, some girl Terminator to go kill all of the future lieutenants of the resistance. Another Terminator is sent back to protect them.

So they set off, running. Then fighting. Then running. Then fighting. Until finally, John asks "I thought we stopped judgment day!", to which Arnold replies "Judgment day in inevitable, and by the way, I killed you in the future". Which has nothing to do with the plot and has no relevance to the task at hand besides being a poor attempt at a plot twist. God, this plot is very tired and contrived. Not to mention... JUDGMENT DAY IS INEVITABLE? Well, that's fine but this completely negates the theme of the first two movies which was "There is no future but what we make". Apparently this isn't so, because all the personal sacrifice in the second movie meant nothing if they couldn't change what was going to happen. Rape my childhood will you...

Anyway, John does not believe this and says they need to kill Skynet. So they fight their way to Skynet, just before Judgment day is supposed to happen. The Terminator and the T-X kill each other while fighting. John and his girlfriend who is largely pointless enter the room where Skynet is, blow it up and all ends happily ever after. Well, not exactly. They enter the room to find.... nothing. The bombs drop and judgment day begins. Well fuck me sideways. The Terminator tricked them into a bomb shelter because he knew Judgment day was inevitable.  That sneaky bastard! Not only did he save John Connor, he robbed the audience of an exciting ending and instead gave us an unsatisfying cop out. Thanks, Arnie.

This sequel can suck my cock. This movie never should have been made, at least not this way. Linda Hamilton was smart enough to stay away from this piece of shit without the direction of James Cameron, as should the audience. If you are looking for a brainless action flick, as you are a dumbass then by all means pop this movie into the DVD player. You will likely love it. But if you revere the first two films as cinematic masterpieces, or are looking for a coherent storyline, then stay away from this pile of disappointing shit.

Thanks for reading and comment if you wish. Until next time.

Another classic case of expecting a sequel to be as good as the first and being disapointed. T3 may not compare to T2 but it is by no means a terrible film. Your arguements are based purely on opinion.

BTW, when arnie says judgement day is inevitable, remember he was programmed to believe it is inevitable. If he said a banana was blue, would you believe him? The machines are very single minded, completley focused on the destruction of mankind and the terminators (tools of skynet) are programmed to think that. And before you argue that he was re-programmed, remember how young john conner had to teach him shit in T2? Re-programming terminators obviously ain't easy coz they don't seem to do a good job.

Anyway, T3 not as good as T1, T1 not as good as T2, but overall a great trilogy. T4 looks to be quite good too but obviously don't expect it to be or you will be disapointed smilies/wink.gif

If you read my blog "Awful Video Games Volume 4", I clearly state that this is not a bad film, but it sure is a shitty sequel. I do not think this is a bad movie in itself, but it shouldn't completely fall apart when being compared to the other 2 films. I had never thought of Arnie being programmed to believe it was inevitable, if they had stated this I would have forgave it, but they didn't. They never mention it again to the best of my memory. T4 does look great. I went to the panel at comic con, and the footage they showed looked promising. I got a free T-Shirt out of it too. smilies/cool.gif

T3 was an ok movie, but definitely not as good as T2. I do believe the whole "Judgement Day is inevitable" part to a little BS, sending a boot to the ass of the first two movies. My question then was, "if Judgement Day was inevitable, then why the hell would they try to do anything?"
The biggest question I had was how there could still be a skynet or any sort of machinery relating to the Terminator since all the pieces were destroyed in the previous movie... including skynet being blown to hell.
Let me say that I didn't watch the movie all the way through. I was more focused on Christmas Dinner with the family (which is why I'm a fatass.. should I sue Christmas for making me fat? - Yes, that was a lame joke) than on watching a movie that most of my interest when I saw the badass John Conner was turned into a pussy.
